The Lion Pride 5K is a community sports event held in Wilmington, North Carolina. The race route begins at the rear parking lot of St. Mark Catholic School and travels through the residential neighborhoods of Tanbridge and Windemere. The 5K course is a single-loop layout that is USATF Certified, characterized by a flat and fast surface.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K Run (timed race)
- 5K Walk (untimed, early start for walkers)
- 1 Mile run
- 400m Kids Run
The event serves as a gathering to support the St. Mark Catholic Church and School. After completing their distances, registered participants have access to a variety of provided food options prepared by local community groups. The selection includes chicken and beef tacos prepared by the Hispanic community, approximately 1,000 egg rolls provided by the Vietnamese Catholic community, and grilled hot dogs served by the Knights of Columbus.
Registration is open to the public with specific fees for each distance. The 5K walk is specifically designated for those who do not wish to be timed and starts ahead of the main running field. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
