Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon
The Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon is a USATF-certified half marathon held in Springfield, Illinois on April 10, 2027. The race covers 13.1 miles and starts and finishes at Old State Capitol Plaza.
The course passes several Abraham Lincoln sites in sequence: the Old State Capitol where Lincoln delivered the House Divided speech; the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices within the first quarter mile; the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned before the first mile is reached; Oak Ridge Cemetery and Lincoln’s tomb around mile nine; a city park named for Lincoln at mile ten; and the historic Union Train Station and the Abraham Lincoln Museum and Library during the final mile, with the museum one block from the finish.
Registration opens in November. The event is presented as a live race; virtual participation is not offered generally and is available only to race day volunteers. Race day child care is available through Kidzeum with separate registration. A 12-week Halfwits training group uses the course for preparation. Course maps, past race photos, and previous years’ results are kept by the organizer for reference. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
