Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon
The Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon takes place in Springfield, Illinois, featuring a 13.1 mile course that is USATF certified. The route focuses on historical locations associated with the 16th President of the United States. Participants follow a path that begins at the Old State Capitol and concludes one block away from the Abraham Lincoln Museum and Library.
The course passes several specific historical landmarks:
- 13.1 miles: A half marathon distance passing the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices and Lincoln's former home.
Within the first quarter mile, the route passes the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, the only remaining building where Lincoln practiced law. Before the first mile is complete, runners pass the only home ever owned by Abraham Lincoln. At mile nine, the course enters Oak Ridge Cemetery, providing a view of Lincoln's final resting place. The tenth mile goes through a city park named after the president, while the final mile passes the historic Union Train station.
The event includes an expo held the day before the race at the Old State Capitol featuring vendors and sponsors. Packet pickup is available during the Friday expo or on the morning of the race near the start line. Registration is completed digitally via the participant's own device.
