About the race
The Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon is a USATF certified 13.1 miles race held in Springfield, Illinois on April 10, 2027. The course begins at the Old State Capitol and follows a route that highlights multiple Abraham Lincoln sites. Early on the route runners pass the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices, the only building still standing where Lincoln practiced law. Less than a mile into the course the route passes the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned. During mile nine the course enters Oak Ridge cemetery and offers views of Lincoln’s final resting place. Mile 10 passes through the city park named for Lincoln. In the final mile runners pass the historic Union Train Station adjacent to the Abraham Lincoln Museum and Library, located about one block from the finish.
Event support includes a Runners Fair and packet pickup on the Friday before the race at Scheels, 3801 S MacArthur Blvd, Springfield, IL 62711 from 4pm to 9pm. Friday packet pickup is held at the same location. Morning packet pickup takes place at the Old State Capitol from 6:30am to 7:15am. Registration opens November 1, 2026; some registration options close January 1, 2027 while a race day volunteer registration option closes April 9, 2027. Registration may close on race morning if the event is sold out. The course has a cutoff of 3 hours 30 minutes, about a 16 minute pace. Shirts and jackets are available while inventory lasts.
