Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon
The Lincoln Presidential Half Marathon is scheduled for April 10, 2027 at Old State Capitol Plaza in Springfield, Illinois. The event is a USATF certified half marathon covering 13.1 miles and is routed to pass multiple historic sites associated with Abraham Lincoln.
The course starts and finishes at the Old State Capitol and passes the Lincoln-Herndon Law Offices within the first quarter mile. Runners pass the only home Abraham Lincoln ever owned before the first mile. Around mile nine the route enters Oak Ridge Cemetery to view Lincoln's tomb. Mile ten goes through the city park named for Lincoln, and the final mile runs past the historic Union Train Station and the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library, which lie close to the finish line.
This race has offered live, in person competition; virtual participation details are listed as to be announced and have previously been limited to race day volunteers. Registration for the event opens in November. Race day child care has been available by separate registration through Kidzeum. The club provides a 12 week Halfwits training plan that prepares runners by training on the course. Course maps, past race photos, and past results are published for reference.
