Frostbite Festival - Springfield, IL
The Frostbite Festival is an annual early-December road race organized by the Springfield Road Runners Club. This edition is listed as the 63th Anniversary and is planned to use the same out-and-back course with notable roller coaster hills. The event offers both an in-person and a virtual option for 2026.
There are two race distances:
- 2 mile out-and-back
- 10 mile out-and-back
Both races use a start and finish area on West Lawrence, with pre- and post-race activities and indoor bathrooms at AMF Springfield Lanes. The 10 mile race serves as the final leg of the SRRC Triple Crown Challenge and as a leg of Abe’s 50K Throwdown. The FrostToes training group provides free preparation for the 10 mile distance, typically meeting two weekday evenings in Washington Park and running a longer run on Saturday.
In-person arrangements will follow local and state regulations; participants will receive email instructions about packet pickup and race day details. Runners who register but do not start the in-person race will be transferred to the virtual event. The virtual option allows participants to run or walk on their own course without course markings, support, or marshals; participants are advised to use caution on heavily traveled roads. Packet pickup locations include M Fitness Health & Wellness and a race-morning pickup outside AMF; mailed packets are available for a separate fee. Registration is handled through RunSignup only, with no cash or checks accepted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
