Lincoln Mile
The Lincoln Mile is a late summer running event held in Delaware, Ohio. The race takes place in the historic Northwest neighborhood, providing a straight course through shaded streets lined with spectators. The run begins at the top of Lincoln Avenue, near the Delaware Hayes High School tennis courts, and features a finish line located in Mingo Park. The final half mile of the course is downhill.
Participants can choose from several distinct heats:
- High School Challenge Mile: Open to students aged 13-18 with individual and team scoring available.
- Community Open Mile: An open event for all ages, with a suggested minimum age of 7.
- Elite Women Mile: Designated for faster runners, with suggested qualifying times of 5:15 or faster.
- Elite Men Mile: Designated for faster runners, with suggested qualifying times of 4:45 or faster.
The High School Challenge heat includes cross-country style scoring for teams of three or more runners. While the elite heats have suggested time thresholds, they are open to any participant who wishes to compete at that level. The event provides a variety of categories to accommodate different experience levels, from students and young milers to experienced competitive athletes.
