About the race
The Lighthouse Lookout event offers road race options at Point Lookout State Park in Scotland, Maryland. Points from the event count toward the Year‑Long 5k, 10k and Back of the Pack series, and toward the Fall Series. A virtual race option is available.
Participants can choose from these distances:
- 5 km, single loop course.
- 10 km, two loops of the 5 km course.
The course is paved with basically no hills and runs through the state park. Water stations are located at about mile markers 1.55 on the 5 km, and at approximately 1.55, 3.1 and 4.65 on the 10 km; Gatorade is available at some stations. Restrooms are near the playground. The event uses chip timing, posts live results online, and provides a QR code at the race for immediate result access; final results with series points are posted the Monday after the race.
Runners receive a finisher’s medal and a technical (Dri‑fit) event shirt; shirts are guaranteed for registrations completed before September 30, extras are available on a first‑come basis. Registration fees differ by distance and increase after September 30, with an additional race‑morning increase noted in the event information.
Awards are given to the top three men and women overall, and first and second place in age groups 19 & under, 20‑29, 30‑39, 40‑49, 50‑59, 60‑69, and 70+. The event benefits Friends of Point Lookout. Packet pickup is available at the event and race day registration is offered. Volunteers support course stations and finish line duties and should arrive about 60 minutes before the first race.
