Light Up the Night 5K - Peru
The Light Up the Night 5K Run/Walk is an evening athletic event held in Peru, Indiana. Organized by the Back to School Festival, the event takes place along the local Riverwalk. Participants follow a course that starts at the gazebo by the Ole Olsen Memorial Theater (The Depot).
The route proceeds down the Riverwalk, continuing onto the newer section of the path toward the little league fields. Upon reaching this point, runners and walkers turn around to return to the starting area. Due to the evening timing of the event, participants are advised to wear bright or reflective clothing for visibility.
The event includes two categories:
- 5 km run
- 5 km walk
Awards are provided for the first-place male and female finishers in both the running and walking categories across various age groups. These groups include participants aged 12 and under, 13-18, 19-25, 26-40, 41-60, and 61 and up. Registration for the event takes place at the Depot prior to the start.
