About the race
The Ugly Sweater fun run in Fruita is a social 5k run/walk held on December 12, 2026 at Fruita Tavern, 153 N Mulberry St., Fruita, CO 81521. Participants are encouraged to wear festive or intentionally "ugly" holiday sweaters. The event includes an ugly sweater contest, music, seasonal brews and hot chocolate, and food at a post-run gathering.
Entry details specify a $35 fee that includes run entry, a craft brew or hot chocolate, and a custom pint glass or a water bottle. Children 12 and under may run free. The event benefits Girls on the Run Western Colorado.
Onsite partners provide supplemental activities: InMotion Wellness will offer free mini stretching sessions, and Out West Training will run post-event Beer Olympics fitness games during packet pickup and the after-party. Beer Olympics events listed for the post-run program include keg haul relay, beer balance relay, corn hole drinking challenge, CrossFit-style squat challenge, triple jump, flanking, and a flip cup planking relay. Non-drinkers may use water for drinking elements.
Additional on-course challenges include a growler carry where a runner who finishes the roughly 5k course in under 25 minutes without dropping or transferring two water filled growlers wins a filled growler, and a keg carry challenge for teams of two that awards filled growlers if completed in under 45 minutes.
