Liam Strong Charity Beach Run
The Liam Strong Charity Beach Run is a fundraising running event created to honor a child lost to childhood cancer and to support North Carolina Children’s Hospital. The event includes a short ceremony to honor the namesake and remarks from hospital representatives.
The event is scheduled for Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Johnnie Mercer’s Pier, 23 E Salisbury Street, Wrightsville Beach, NC 28480. Packet pickup is available on Saturday, September 19 at Flying Machine Oyster Bar, with a last chance pickup on race morning at the pier. Metered parking is available and can be paid with a credit card.
Two distances are offered:
- 5K registration fee $25
- 1 Mile Fun Run registration fee $15
All race registration is conducted online. Registration opened on February 13, 2026 and closed on March 15, 2026.
Awards are given separately for the Kids 1 Mile Fun Run and the 5K. The Kids 1 Mile awards include top male and female finisher under 18 and top three boys and girls in the 8 and under and 9 to 17 age groups. The 5K awards include top male and female overall and top three male and female finishers in age groups 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and over.
