Lenexa Freedom Run

Lenexa Freedom Run is an Independence Day running event held in Old Town Lenexa on July 4, 2026. The event offers two USATF certified course options and welcomes runners, walkers and participants with strollers. Walkers and stroller users should register for the 5K only.

Both courses are flat, fully traffic controlled and marked at mile increments. The 10K splits from the 5K route at the 2.7 mile marker on Santa Fe Trail Drive at 95th Street. Water sprays and three water aid stations are provided along the course, and restrooms are located at the start area, Alden Street and Santa Fe Trail Drive, and the finish area. Electronic timing is used via chips in the race bibs; results are posted shortly after the race and official results are posted to the event website within two hours.

Registration is available online, in person at the Lenexa Rec Center, or by mail using the event form. Registration fees vary by date and range from $28 to $45. A race T shirt is included with registration and a finisher medal is available for an additional purchase. The event is held rain or shine and refunds are not issued.
