Leif's Run
Leif's Run takes place October 10, 2026 in Norway, Michigan as part of the Leif Erikson Festival. The event offers three running distances:
- 10K 6.2 miles
- 5K 3.1 miles
- 2-mile Fun Run 2 miles
Registration opens March 27, 2026 and closes October 1, 2026. Race day registration and check-in occur in the City Hall lobby from 7:30 to 8:30 am. Parking is available on side streets. Awards are handed out in the City Band Shell next to City Hall. The course will close at 11:00 to open for festival traffic.
Race entry includes a long-sleeve shirt, with an option to decline the shirt for a $10 reduction; only pre-registered entrants are guaranteed a shirt if selected. Participants receive $5 in Viking Bucks for use at participating Norway businesses.
The course begins and ends on Main Street in front of City Hall and the City Band Shell. The 10K and 5K are chip-timed with race receipts provided by Tortoise and Hare Timing of Arbor Vitae, WI. The town course includes a lap around Strawberry Lake, water stops (two on the 10K, one on the 5K), and one or more hills depending on the distance. Finish lines are on Main Street in front of the City Band Shell.
Festival features include music in the City Band Shell, food vendors, Viking reenactments, a fine art show, blacksmith demonstrations, children's activities, the crowning of Miss Norway, an afternoon parade, and a walk for the Viking funeral pyre at Strawberry Lake Park.
