Leicester's Big 10K : Tempo Events, Abbey Park
Leicester's Big 10K is a lapped 10 km race held within and around Abbey Park, Leicester (LE4 5AQ). The course is described as significantly flat and runs a mix of inner park laps and perimeter sections, with part of the route on the canal towpath. The finish line is about 700 m from the final park entrance.
The event uses two start waves to separate faster and slower runners; runners who expect to finish in under 50 minutes are allocated to the earlier wave, and others to the later wave. Race numbers and timing chips are posted to entrants; entries received after that posting will collect numbers on race day. There is one water station just before the 5 km marker.
Prizes are awarded on the day: first three finishers in each gender (only for the first wave) and first in each age group starting at 35 in ten-year bands. All finishers receive a bespoke finisher's medal. Fire & Earth Sports Massage will provide free sports massage after the race.
Facilities include a secure baggage drop using a tear-off strip on race numbers, and mobile toilets and urinals in the park. The minimum entry age is 15. Refunds are offered up to six weeks before the race less a £2 admin fee; after that entries can be transferred or refunded if the entrant helps marshal.
