Leicester's Big 10K - Abbey Park, Leicester
Leicester's Big 10K is a 10 km lapped race held in Abbey Park, Leicester. The course is described as significantly flat. The route starts inside the park, follows a rough lap, runs around the park perimeter, returns for a larger inner circuit, repeats the outside section and then finishes 700 m from the final park entrance. Part of the course uses a canal towpath with permission from the Canal & River Trust.
The event uses two start waves based on expected finishing time to reduce overtaking on the course. A single water station is located just before the 5K marker. The event is on closed roads so earphones are permitted provided runners remain aware of marshal instructions and any emergency vehicles.
Race numbers and timing chips will be posted to entrants; later entries will collect numbers on the day. There is a secure baggage drop at the finish using a tear-off strip from the race number. Mobile toilets and urinals are provided within Abbey Park. Parking is available in nearby public car parks.
Registration is open with fees listed at £31 for club members and £33 for non club members. Minimum age to enter is 15 years. Refunds are available up to six weeks before the race less a £2 administration fee; after that entries may be transferred to another runner before the race or a full refund may be given if the entrant marshals on the day. In the event of cancellation organisers will attempt to reschedule or offer a partial refund or donation option depending on costs incurred.
Charity partnership includes LWA. Event partners provide race photography and post-race sports massage. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
