Legacy of Courage Half Marathon - Houston
The Legacy of Courage Half Marathon takes place at Russ Poppe Family Park in Houston. This event supports The Outdoor Disabled Veterans Program through the Knowledge Point Network, assisting veterans with physical and invisible injuries through outdoor therapeutic activities.
The event offers several race distances to accommodate different preferences:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- Quarter Marathon Ruck (6.55 miles with weight)
- 5K (3.11 miles)
- 5K Ruck (3.11 miles with weight)
- 1 Mile Run
- Kids Dash (approx. 50 meters)
- Virtual Run
The course utilizes the trails of the park, which include paved surfaces, crushed granite, and dirt paths. The terrain meanders through wooded areas and features views of a fishing lake, an observation deck, and an elevated boardwalk.
Participants receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt. The 5K, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip-timed and include age group awards as well as overall male and female winner trophies. The Kids Dash is a non-timed event for children aged 10 and under. On-site facilities include aid stations with water, a finish line rally tent with snacks and refreshments, and a DJ providing musical entertainment.
