Leatherwood Marathons - April 11, 2026
Leatherwood Marathons takes place in Ferguson, NC, on private trails in the Leatherwood Mountains. The event uses a 12-mile loop that gains 3,050 feet per loop. Terrain is steep and rugged with roots, rock, and mud.
Distances offered:
- 25K - One loop; 3,050 ft gain
- 50K - Two loops plus out and back; 6,050 ft gain
- 50 Mile - Four loops; 12,200 ft gain
- 100 Mile - Eight loops; 24,400 ft gain
The trail is marked with orange ribbons and yellow arrows. There are three aid stations per loop named Alpha, Wolf Fang, and Omega. Alpha allows crew access; Wolf Fang is not crew accessible. Stations are stocked with water, Tailwind, soda, candy, bacon, fruit, pickles, salt, and basic first aid.
The 100 Mile field has a safety requirement that a pacer accompany runners at dusk. Early packet pickup is available on the Friday before the event. Finishers receive a handmade pottery medal and event swag. Photos are scheduled for release about one week after the event.
Accommodations near the venue include Leatherwood Mountains Cabins with over 45 rustic units and a Creekside Campground offering tent and RV sites with water and power and shared shower and bathroom facilities. Campsites are limited. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
