Event overview
Leatherwood Marathons takes place April 11, 2026, in Ferguson, North Carolina. The event is held on private trails in the Leatherwood Mountains and is organized by Dirty Wolf Racing. Registration closes April 8, 2026.
Course and distances
Each race is built on a 12-mile loop with about 3,050 ft of elevation gain per loop. Distances offered:
- 25K – One loop, 3,050 ft gain
- 50K – Two loops plus an out-and-back, 6,050 ft gain
- 50 Mile – Four full loops, 12,200 ft gain
- 100 Mile – Eight loops, 24,400 ft gain
The trail is described as steep and rugged and is marked with orange ribbons and yellow arrows.
Aid stations and cutoffs
There are three aid stations per loop: Alpha (crew access), Wolf Fang (no crew access), and Omega. Stations are stocked with water, Tailwind, soda, candy, bacon, fruit, pickles, salt, and basic first aid. The 100-mile race has a 36-hour cutoff.
Rules and accommodations
Rules noted include no dogs, no strollers, no unregistered runners, and no refunds. Deferments are available by request before the event. 100-mile entrants are required to have a pacer at dusk for safety.
