Girls on the Run of the High Country 5K
The Girls on the Run of the High Country 5K is held as the culminating event for the program's 10 week curriculum. The event is celebrated twice each year and is open to the general public, past Girls on the Run participants, running buddies, coaches and families. Participants in the current Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole seasons have 5K registration and fees included as part of their season program.
The course is an out and back route on a paved surface with no road crossings. Organizers staff the course with volunteers and provide a Race Village featuring warm up activities, creative and photo stations, and hospitality tables. Dogs and strollers are allowed on course.
On race day there is bib pick up and on site registration; all participants must sign a waiver and receive a bib. Early registration has a reduced fee and includes an event t shirt if completed by the stated deadline; later registration has a higher fee and a t shirt is not guaranteed but may be available for purchase. Registration fees are treated as a donation to the Girls on the Run scholarship fund and are non refundable, though transfers to a future 5K may be considered with written request.
Volunteers fill roles such as cheerleaders, decoration teams and directional support to help participants reach their individual goals. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
