Le Grizz Ultramarathon & Relay
Le Grizz is a set of running events held at the Glacier Institute's Big Creek Outdoor Education Center in Polebridge, Montana. The program includes multiple distances:
- 50 Miles Ultramarathon
- 50 Miles Relay
- 9.3 Miles 15K Run
- 3.1 Miles 5K Run
The 50 mile course runs just west of Glacier National Park on a gravel road that runs alongside the North Fork of the Flathead River. The route provides views of the Crown of the Continent, including parts of the Northern Rockies and Glacier Park, and passes through areas of aspen and larch.
The 2026 course layout is an out-and-back that begins and ends at the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center, follows North Fork Road just beyond Red Meadow Creek, and includes a brief detour into the Polebridge Mercantile aid station. The 50 mile route records approximately 2,300 feet of elevation gain. The road surface is undulating gravel with occasional gentle inclines, reflecting the traditional elevation profile of Le Grizz from the legacy Spotted Bear course.
