5K Celebration - Confidence through Accomplishment
Girls on the Run Western Montana holds a seasonal closing 5K that concludes the program. The Spring 2027 5K is scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2027, at Depot Park in Whitefish, MT. The event is a celebratory, noncompetitive 5K; the standard 5K distance is 3.1 miles.
The event is intended to give program participants a tangible sense of accomplishment. Every registered participant receives a commemorative 5K medal. Participants may walk, run, push, roll or skip at their own pace; typical finish times noted for participants range from about 25 to 50 minutes.
Safety and accessibility measures are in place. All participants must wear a race bib provided by the council. The event uses a running buddy system so each participant has an accompanying adult or designated buddy for the entire course. The council monitors the course, conducts head counts, and maintains a safety plan for staff and volunteers. Site accessibility includes designated parking and accommodations for participants with disabilities. Volunteers appointed through the council are required to undergo a background check.
The 5K includes additional season-end activities and support: face painting, water stations, happy hair stations, merchandise for sale, and an Inspiration Village.
