LDWA South Downs Marathon 2026
The LDWA South Downs Marathon offers two measured routes across the South Downs National Park beginning and ending at East Dean Village Hall, Eastbourne BN20 0DR. Both routes cross well known downland landscapes including Seven Sisters and Cuckmere Haven and visit the downland villages of Litlington, Firle and Alfriston. Entrants must complete their route within an 11 hour time limit.

Car parking is in the field next to the hall and luggage may be left in the hall. Three or two checkpoints provide food and refreshments, each offering vegetarian options. All finishers within the 11 hour limit receive an emailed certificate and a light hot meal is provided at the finish. A souvenir badge is available to purchase.
Full route descriptions, map sections and GPX files will be available for download from 13 April 2026 in PDF and DOC formats. Entrants must carry a route description and appropriate maps covering the whole route (OS Landranger 198 or 199 or Explorer 123 or OL25); electronic devices carrying maps must have sufficient battery power for 15 hours. All entrants should bring a drinking vessel.
Key entry and safety rules state the event is open to walkers and runners, membership of the LDWA is not required, no entries are accepted on the day, and dogs are not permitted except assistance dogs. Under 18s need written parental consent and must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Checkpoint opening and closing times are strictly enforced and retirees must report to a checkpoint; transport back to the start is provided for retirees.
