Start the New Year with the 19th Hangover Hike in Dewsbury on 1 January 2026. Choose 10, 17 or 21 mile circular routes that converge at a main checkpoint so you can shorten or extend on the day, with refreshments and a finisher certificate.

Event

The 19th Hangover Hike takes place on 1 January 2026 in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. The event is based at The Leggers Inn, Mill Street, Dewsbury, WF12 9BD. Entrants can walk or run one of three circular routes:

  • 10 miles
  • 17 miles
  • 21 miles

All routes converge at a main refreshment checkpoint, allowing participants to shorten or lengthen their route on the day. Route descriptions, maps and GPX files are available to download. Maps required are Explorer 278 and 288.

Practical information

Entry is by advance online registration via SiEntries. Advance fees are £9 for LDWA members and £11 for non-LDWA; entry on the day is £15 if places remain. Children under 16 accompanied by an adult are welcome and entry is free. U-18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian; U-16s must walk with a parent or guardian. Dogs are allowed but must be under constant control.

Entry includes tea and toast at registration, cold drinks and snacks at checkpoints, and a finisher certificate; participants are asked to bring their own mug. As a winter event, entrants should carry waterproofs, warm clothing, suitable footwear, map, compass, whistle and torch. Participants who retire must do so at a checkpoint; marshals may withdraw participants for safety or if they fall behind schedule. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
