The 20th Hangover Hike
The event takes place on Friday 1 January 2027 at The Leggers Inn, Mill Street East, Dewsbury, West Yorks, WF12 9BD (GR SE249207). It is an organised walk or run that uses circular routes with a checkpoint and a pub finish.
Aim and distances:
- 10 miles (15 km)
- 17 miles (27 km)
- 21 miles (34 km)
All routes converge at a main refreshment checkpoint so participants may shorten or lengthen their route on the day. Route descriptions, maps and GPX files are available to download from the LDWA; the route has changed so download the updated route description and GPX in December. Maps required are Explorer 278 and 288.
Entrants: both LDWA and non‑LDWA walkers and runners are welcome. Under 18s must be LDWA members or walk with a parent or guardian; under 16s must walk with a parent or guardian. Dogs are allowed but must be under constant control.
Entry fees include tea and toast at registration, cold drinks and snacks at checkpoints, and a finisher certificate. Participants are asked to bring their own mug. Food and a selection of real ales are available at The Leggers Inn at the end of the walk.
As a winter event, participants should carry waterproofs, warm clothing, suitable footwear, map, compass, whistle and torch. Participants who retire must do so at a checkpoint and marshals may withdraw participants for safety or timing reasons. An event cancellation and refund policy and event terms apply.
