The 19th Hangover Hike
The Hangover Hike is a New Year's Day event hosted by The Irregulars group of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA). Participants can choose to walk or run through the landscape of West Yorkshire, with the event starting and finishing at a local inn in Dewsbury.
The event offers three circular routes of varying lengths:
- 10 miles
- 13 miles
- 21 miles
All three routes converge at a primary refreshment checkpoint, allowing participants the flexibility to shorten or lengthen their chosen distance during the event. Navigation materials, including route descriptions, maps, and GPX files, are provided for participants to download.
The registration fee covers refreshments such as tea and toast at the start, as well as cold drinks and snacks at designated checkpoints along the way. All finishers receive a certificate. Participants are required to bring their own reusable mug for drinks served during the event. The hike is open to both LDWA members and non-members, accommodating both walkers and runners.
The course utilizes the surrounding terrain of Dewsbury and includes a refreshment stop on the route. Registration takes place on the morning of the event at the Leggers Inn. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
