Event Overview
The Law Enforcement Torch Run in Lee County is a community event that benefits Special Olympics Florida. For the first time, the event is open to public participation. It takes place at the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Headquarters on 14750 Six Mile Cypress Parkway in Fort Myers.
The event supports Special Olympics Florida, with 100% of proceeds going to the organization to fund sports training, competitions, and health programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
Course and Participation
The course is approximately 4.9 miles long and is not a timed race. Participants have two options for activity: running or cycling (walking is not permitted). The course features two optional drop points for those who do not wish to complete the full distance; transportation back to the start will be provided. An official Lee County Sheriff’s Office escort will lead the group, which will carry the "Flame of Hope."
All participants must wear the official event shirt, which is available in either cotton or dry-fit material. The event does not use race bibs or give awards, as the focus is on group participation with local law enforcement. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
