Event Overview
The Laurel Highlands Ultra takes place in Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania, within the Laurel Ridge State Park. This event marks the forty-seventh consecutive running of the longer ultra distance and the twenty-first year of the shorter ultra distance. The course is situated on the original homelands of the Monongahela, Shawnee, and other nomadic nations.
The races utilize the Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail for point-to-point courses. Participants in the longest individual and relay categories travel the entire length of the trail, finishing at Route 56 in Seward. Participants in the shorter ultra categories finish at the 31-mile point near the intersection of Route 31.

Participants can choose from the following distance and format options:
- 70.5 Miler (Individual)
- 70.5 Relay
- 50K (Individual)
- 50K Relay
Registration and Capacity
Registration for the event closes on June 6. Field sizes are limited for each category to manage the volume of runners on the trail. The 70.5 Miler is capped at 210 individual spots, which are released in three separate registration phases. The 50K individual race has a capacity of 250 spots. Both the 70.5 Relay and the 50K Relay have a limit of 15 team spots each. Entry numbers are subject to adjustment by race directors based on environmental factors such as flooding or air quality.
