Last Mile
The Last Mile is a multi-distance running event held at Lake Crabtree Park in Morrisville, North Carolina. Participants can choose between several in-person and virtual race distances held on a course within the park grounds. The event provides a fitness-focused conclusion to the year, inviting runners and walkers to participate together.
Participants have the choice of the following distances:
- 6 Miles
- 4 Miles
- 2 Miles
The event is designed to accommodate different types of movement, including running, walking, and pushing strollers. Parents who are registered for any of the main races may push small children in strollers, provided the children are also registered. For those participating in the longer distances, the event provides 2 Mile lap splits to track progress through the 4 Mile and 6 Mile courses.
Registered participants in the 2 Mile, 4 Mile, and 6 Mile categories receive an event shirt and a finishers champagne glass. There are also award categories for the top three male and female finishers in various age groups and overall rankings. Additionally, participants can win rewards by forming teams or setting new course records. The course closes for all in-person participants at a fixed time, and the main park gates remain closed to vehicle traffic while the event is in progress.
Total awards across the in-person and virtual categories exceed $6,000 in value. The event is also part of the Fit and Able Free-for-All Race Series, allowing participants to earn points toward end-of-year standings. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
