Event overview
The Last Friday of the Month 5k is a monthly 5-kilometre race held in Hyde Park. It is organised by volunteers from Serpentine Running and Triathlon Club and is staged on a two-lap course. The start and finish are at the Boat House on the northern side of the Serpentine lake. The race is held under UK Athletics rules and carries England Athletics licence number 29177. The course has a Certificate of Course Accuracy number 16/201.
Entry, fees and eligibility
Entry is by online registration only; entries cannot be taken on the day due to Royal Parks rules. Races usually sell out about one week before race day. The entry fee is £7.00 for runners registered with England Athletics through any athletics or running club and £9.00 for unaffiliated runners. The Club’s policy is not to refund fees except in exceptional circumstances at the Committee’s discretion. The minimum age is 11 years.
Race rules, safety and cut-off
The event has a cut-off time of 35 minutes, after which the course will not be marshalled and no results will be recorded. For safety, runners should not wear headphones or other items that impede hearing. Participants must complete the medical and emergency contact details on the back of their race number.
Facilities and results
There are no changing or shower facilities. Public toilets are about 500 m from the start near the Bandstand and require a 20p payment by card. Personal belongings may be left near the start at the owner’s risk. No water is provided by the organisers; refreshments are available nearby. Results are published on the club website and include name, club affiliation, race time and age category. A league championship uses the best six age-graded performances across the year.
