About the race
Last Chance BQ.2 - Grand Rapids takes place on Sunday, September 13, 2026, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. The event is limited to 330 runners and is presented as an opportunity to post a Boston Marathon qualifying time for the 2027 race. Events include: - Marathon. - Marathon plus Millennium Meadows Marathon training run on August 30. The course is based at Secchia Meadows in Millennium Park (start/finish at the Meadows Pavilion). It uses a 4.05-mile loop on a wide, paved path that crosses a footbridge, follows the Grand River, and passes through meadows; most of the loop is heavily shaded.
The loop is mostly flat, with a gradual rolling section between about 2.5 and 3.5 miles on the first lap. Every mile is marked. Aid stations with water and Gatorade are located near mile 1 and about mile 3.2; runners pass each aid station six times. Personal water bottles may be placed on a table near aid station #1 before the race; bottles left on course will be treated as trash.
Crew members may refill runners' bottles at aid stations, but personal pacers are not allowed. Race logistics note qualifying standards to enter; organizers state they will waive qualification times after June 15, 2026. There is a strict no wheelchairs policy and bicycles are prohibited on course. All timing is chip based; bib timing chips must not be folded.
