Last Chance BQ.2 - Grand Rapids
The Last Chance BQ.2 - Grand Rapids is a marathon specifically designed for runners aiming to achieve a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon. The event takes place at Secchia Meadows in Millennium Park, utilizing a wide and paved path. The course route crosses a footbridge, follows the Grand River, and passes through meadows, with much of the distance being heavily shaded. Due to the nature of the course, wheelchairs, including handcycles and push rims, are not permitted.
The event offers the following options:
- 26.2 Miles
- 26.2 Miles plus a training run on August 30
The race features a strict 4:30 time limit, though exceptions are made for runners whose age-graded Boston qualifying time exceeds this limit. Participation is limited to 330 runners to maintain a focused environment. Registration requires meeting specific entry standards before June 15, after which the qualifying times for entry are waived, provided the participant is prepared to run a Boston qualifying pace.
The organizers offer a package that includes a bib, chip, and shirt for the Millennium Meadows training run on August 30. Participants in that session can choose to run approximately 18 or 22 miles on the same course as the main event, with the option to complete the full distance if they wish. Packet pickup is held on Saturday at the Fulton Street Pub-Grill and on the morning of the race at the event site on Maynard SW. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
