Lanikai 8K Run in Memory
The event is an in-person 8K run and walk held at Kailua Beach Park with a bunch start at the Lanikai Monument. The course uses two counterclockwise loops of the Lanikai Bike Path and finishes near the Lanikai Boat Ramp. Faster runners are asked to move toward the front and walkers toward the back to reduce collisions.
There is a stroller division for the same 8K distance. The entry fee is $40. Packet pickup is available the day before at The Running Room on Kapahulu Avenue and on race morning. Parking is available in the Boat Ramp area and in Kailua Beach Park.
Awards are presented at the race to the top three male and female finishers and to the top three finishers in five year age groups. A special award is given to the first finisher in the honoree's age group. Results are published almost immediately online at Timeline Hawaii. Finishers receive complimentary shave ice provided by Island Snow.
The race is held in memory of a young participant who died following the event in 2003; it is supported by his family. Time, date, and location may change prior to registration opening. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
