The route covers 23 miles with approximately 850 m ascent, following the western shore of Windermere and passing Claife Heights and Bigland Tarn. The course is fully waymarked with yellow arrows on a black background and a paper map is supplied; GPS devices are permitted as a backup.
Entry includes live tracking, full race medical first aid cover, a finishers medal and one well stocked feed station. The shared feed station offers hot drinks and a range of savoury and sweet foods; specific items at Finsthwaite Village Hall include hot soup, baguettes, hot sausage and cheese rolls, fruit, creamed rice, crisps, cakes and sweets. A runners meal at Cartmel is included with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options noted.

A coach transfer from Cartmel to the start can be booked separately. Registration is based at Ambleside United Football Club and a small finish bag drop is available.
