Event
The Lakes Country Triathlon takes place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Baxter, MN at Whipple Beach (14441 Oakwood Dr N). The event is organized by the Kiwanis Club of Baxter and the Sertoma Club. It includes two event types: Individual Triathlon and Team Relay. Registration opens December 28, 2025 and will close on Thursday, August 27. Race day registration is allowed. Orders received after Friday, August 14 will not receive a T-shirt. Registration fees are non-refundable. Proceeds will benefit youth programs in the Brainerd Lakes area and other charities.
Course and rules
The course comprises a swim, a bike, and a run:
- 1/4-mile swim in Whipple Lake
- 13.6-mile bike through rolling hills
- 3.2-mile run on a very flat residential route
All cyclists must obey Minnesota traffic laws. Bike certified hard-shelled helmets are required. Drafting on the bike course is prohibited and will be monitored. Listening devices are not allowed on the bike course and are strongly discouraged on the run course. Organizers will monitor public health recommendations from the CDC and MDH and coordinate with city and county officials to develop safety plans for the event.
