Event overview
The Lakes Country Triathlon takes place on Sunday, August 30, 2026, in Baxter, Minnesota at Whipple Beach (14441 Oakwood Dr N). The event includes an Individual Triathlon and a Team Relay. A separate Kids Triathlon is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026. Registration opens December 28, 2025 and closes August 27, 2026; race day registration is allowed. Registration fees are non-refundable. Proceeds support youth programs and other charities in the Brainerd Lakes area.
Course and distances
The triathlon starts with a swim in Whipple Lake, continues with a bike course that crosses a river and goes through wooded, rolling hills, and finishes with a run through a residential area. Distances are:
- 1/4-mile swim
- 13.6-mile bike
- 3.2-mile run
Rules and safety
All cyclists must follow Minnesota traffic laws. Certified hard-shelled bike helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited and will be monitored. Listening devices are not allowed on the bike course and are strongly discouraged on the run course.
