Summer Solstice Endurance Event - Baxter
The Summer Solstice Endurance Event takes place at the Dean Makey School Forest as a public educational and recreational resource. The event is scheduled for Saturday, June 20, 2026. Participants may complete one or more 5 km loops during daylight hours; the total daylight running window is 15 hours 48 minutes and 58 seconds.
The standard 5k route uses a combination of ski trail and narrow singletrack hiking trail and is well marked. A modified course alternative with a smoother surface and less elevation change is available for those who prefer it. Basic amenities on site include a well-marked course, water, and a porta potty. Organizers recommend that participants bring a chair, running kit, and any personal supplements they plan to use.
Parking is provided on the south side of Forestview Middle School off Mapleton Road in Baxter, using the gravel lot by the track and ice rink. The start and finish area is a short walk west to the practice fields. The event is described as low-key and no cost to participants.
