Lakeland Trails Ultra - Ambleside, Cumbria
The Lakeland Trails Ultra is a multi-distance trail running event based at Rothay Park in Ambleside, Cumbria. Routes are fully waymarked and marshalled and include mountain terrain with considerable ascent. GPX files are provided for the ultra distances; the shorter trail runs cross private land so GPX files are not shared.
Key features include professional medical cover with advanced life support, event radio communications, and race marshals. Real-time GPS tracking is included for the Ultra 100k and electronic chip timing with live results is used for other distances. Compulsory kit checks apply to the 100k and 55k and the organiser publishes a detailed mandatory kit list covering waterproofs, head torch, first aid items, spare clothing, whistle, phone, emergency blanket and emergency food and drink.
Feed and water stations supplement personal supplies on course; the 23k and 14k have limited stations and runners are advised to carry their own water. Cut-off times and strict safety cut-offs apply to each distance. Age limits are specified for each event and prizes are awarded in open and veteran categories. The event village at the start and finish offers commentary, food and retail stalls, music and on-site facilities. Dogs are not permitted on the courses.
