The routes pass Tarn Hows, Beacon Tarn and an undulating trail along the edge of Grisedale Forest, offering panoramic views of Coniston Water and nearby peaks such as The Old Man, Swirl How, Wetherlam and Dow Crags. Runners' World described it as "the most scenic trail Marathon in Britain."
