24 Hours on the Trails: Exceed your expectations

This event takes place entirely within the Leighton Hall estate in the Silverdale and Arnside Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Competitors run or walk a looped course of 5.75 km that stays off public roads and mixes grass, packed trails and some gravel. The route includes a couple of hills and passes through wooded sections. For variety the direction alternates every two hours.

Entry options include Solo, Pairs and Teams of up to 12 people. Only one team member is on the course at a time, although the first and last laps may be completed together. Timing uses individual chips and a half way timing point must be crossed for a lap to register. Live timing and results are available during the event. Prizes are awarded in Open and Veteran categories and there are awards for the most time spent on the course.

Basic camping for competitors is provided with cold water and toilets. Small campervans of a regular van size can be accommodated; motor homes cannot. Each Solo or Pair entry has one allocated camping space and teams receive one space per two participants. Car parking is available a short distance from the campsite and competitors cannot re enter the car park during the event once they have left.

Hydration provision includes fresh water and VOOM electrolyte drinks with a water station midway around the course during daylight. Food vendors and a cafe operate on site. All competitors running during night hours must wear a working headtorch and carry spare batteries if needed. Medical cover is provided and staff may withdraw competitors who are medically unfit. Spectators are welcome in the start and finish area but must not accompany competitors on the course. Dogs are not permitted on the course and must not be left unattended.
