About the race
The Lakefront 10 Miler & 5K is a spring road race staged at Montrose Beach in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Organized by the Chicago Area Runners Association, the event has been held since 1978 and is CARA’s longest running race along the lakefront. Both courses run on the Lakefront Trail and include a climb up and over Cricket Hill before a final straightaway on Wilson Track that serves as the finish.

Event amenities include a quarter-zip, a finisher medal for all 5K and 10 mile finishers, overall and age-group awards, and post-race beverages. Prize money is offered for the top three finishers in the 10 Mile (First $500, Second $350, Third $150). The 10 Mile is part of the Chicago Racing Circuit. Packet pick-up is provided at several Fleet Feet locations in the days before the race; packet mailing is available by a specified deadline.
A portion of race proceeds supports CARA/Fleet Feet hydration stations along Chicago’s lakefront, which provide water and sports drinks at multiple locations. The event follows USATF competition rules and publishes age-group categories for recognition awards. Refunds and deferrals are not issued under the event’s stated policy.
