Event Overview
The Lake Winnebago 4th of July 5K and Kids Fun Run is an annual event held on July 4. The organizer is Beta Sigma Phi (Alpha Beta chapter). It is an unchipped race, meaning no electronic timing chips are used.
Events and Fees
The event features two runs:
- A 5K run for adults, with a registration fee of $25.
- A Kids One Mile Fun Run for children 12 and under, with a fee of $20.
Registration for either race includes a t-shirt for those who sign up before June 10. T-shirt and bibs can be picked up on July 2 at the AYC (Arrowhead Yacht Club) or on the morning of July 4 at the race site.
Course and Location
The event is based at the Arrowhead Yacht Club (AYC) at 396 N Winnebago Drive in Lake Winnebago, Missouri. The 5K course starts at the AYC, follows Lake Winnebago Drive, and turns around on the 200 Block of Lake Winnebago Drive before returning.
The Kids Fun Run is one mile. Participants are grouped by age: 9 & under first, followed by the 10-12 age group. The 5K starts immediately after the kids' run.
Community Impact
The event raises funds for charity. In the previous year, over $12,000 was donated. Funds supported local families in need and organizations including Cornerstones of Care, Pets for Life, Bikers Against Child Abuse, and KyMel, a camp for children fighting cancer.
