Lake Superior Shore Run
The Lake Superior Shore Run is the 33rd annual event held Friday September 11 and Saturday September 12, 2026 at Little Presque Isle Recreation Area, County Road 550, Marquette, Michigan.
Event distances and formats include:
- Half Marathon
- 5K Run
- 5 Mile Hike
- 1 Mile Kids Race at South Beach
Online registration is closed, but registration is available the day before and the day of the event at packet pickup locations. Packet pickup will occur at South Beach near downtown Marquette the day before; additional packet pickup and day-of registration occur at Little Presque Isle. A five dollar fee is added for day-before and day-of registration.
The half marathon course begins at Little Presque Isle, runs about 1.5 miles along Lake Superior beaches, passes Harlow Lake, climbs approximately 300 feet to views from Bareback Ridge toward the Huron Mountain Range, and returns to Lake Superior for a rugged 1.5 mile stretch from Wetmore Landing back to the finish at Little Presque Isle. Some sections of the half marathon course are described as extreme.
Runners in the half marathon, 5K, and 5 mile hike receive a shirt. Age group awards are handed out at the end of each race. The kids race is free, untimed, uses an out-and-back on the bike path at South Beach, and awards a finish token.
Parking is limited. Organizers request carpooling and following parking volunteers; do not park on County Road 550. A recreation passport or paid daily pass is required for parking in the Little Presque Recreation Area, with published resident and non-resident rates.
