Lake Superior Shore Run
The Lake Superior Shore Run takes place September 11–12, 2026, at Little Presque Isle Recreation Area near Marquette, Michigan. The event program includes the following distances:
- Half Marathon : trail course along Lake Superior, Harlow Lake, Bareback Ridge
- 5K Run : trail run around Little Presque Isle areas
- 5 Mile Hike : recreational hike on marked trails
- 1 Mile Kids Race : untimed youth race at South Beach, free of charge
Packet pickup is held at South Beach in Marquette and is also available at Little Presque Isle on race day. Day-before and day-of registration are offered at packet pickup locations. Participants in the half marathon, 5K, and 5 mile hike will receive a shirt, and age group awards are presented at the end of each race.
The half marathon course begins at Little Presque Isle, follows about 1.5 miles of Lake Superior shoreline, passes Harlow Lake, climbs roughly 300 feet to views of the Huron Mountain Range from Bareback Ridge, then returns to Lake Superior for another 1.5 mile rugged section from Wetmore Landing back to the finish. Some sections of the half marathon course are described as extreme. The half marathon has a four hour time limit and a final aid station checkpoint; participants who do not meet the cutoff are asked to hand in their bibs.
Parking at Little Presque Isle is limited. Organizers request carpooling, following parking volunteers, and avoiding parking on County Road 550. A recreation passport or pay station is required for vehicle parking; published fees include Michigan resident and nonresident options. Proceeds support youth cross country skiing through the Superiorland Ski Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
