Lake Superior Shore Run: event overview
The Lake Superior Shore Run is scheduled for Friday, September 11 to Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Little Presque Isle Recreation Area near Marquette, Michigan. The event is the 33rd running and includes multiple trail and shore events around Little Presque Isle and South Beach.

The half marathon starts at Little Presque Isle and includes about 1.5 miles along Lake Superior beaches, a section past Harlow Lake, a climb of roughly 300 feet to viewpoints on Bareback Ridge overlooking the Huron Mountain Range, and a return segment that includes about 1.5 miles of rugged running from Wetmore Landing back to Little Presque Isle. Some sections of the half marathon course are described as extreme.
Packet pickup and day-before or day-of registration take place at South Beach in Marquette and at Little Presque Isle on race morning. Runners in the half marathon, 5K, and 5 mile hike receive a shirt, and age group awards are distributed at the end of each race.
Parking at Little Presque Isle is limited; participants are asked to carpool, consider parking at Wetmore Landing, and follow directions from parking volunteers. Vehicles using the Little Presque Isle lot require a recreation passport; posted fees include $17 for Michigan resident vehicles, $11 for Michigan resident motorcycles, $34 for non-resident annual, and $9 for non-resident daily passes.
