Lake Springfield Triathlon
The event takes place at Lake Springfield in Springfield, Illinois on Saturday, July 24, 2027. Multiple race formats are offered, including individual triathlons, aquabike events, and relays across sprint, Olympic, and half distances.
Race options include:
- Sprint Triathlon: 500 yard swim / 12 mile bike / 3.1 mile run
- Olympic Triathlon: 0.9 mile swim / 24.8 mile bike / 6.2 mile run
- Half Triathlon: 1.2 mile swim / 56 mile bike / 13.1 mile run
- Aquabike and relay variations for each distance
Pre-event packet pickup is scheduled the day before at the Lake Springfield Beach House. Athletes must present photo ID; relay teams may collect packets for team members. Each packet contains a wristband for transition access, a timing chip to wear on the left ankle, bike and helmet stickers, and a race bib for the run. A timing chip is required for an official time and results.
The swim begins from a dock, the bike course uses local country roads, and the run uses trail sections with standard course etiquette and no headphones rules. Wetsuit rules depend on water temperature; specific temperature thresholds determine legality and award eligibility. Aid on course is limited; athletes should carry personal nutrition. A bike mechanic, SAG vehicle, and medical staff will be available. Post-race amenities include food, music, awards, and a finish area festival.
The event is USA Triathlon sanctioned; participants must have valid USAT membership or purchase a single-event membership. Entry fees are nonrefundable and nontransferable. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
