Lake Springfield Triathlon : July 25, 2026
The Lake Springfield Triathlon is a USAT-sanctioned multi-distance event held at Lake Springfield, with a dock swim start, bike routes on low-traffic country roads, and a run course that finishes at a beach-house festival area. Updated bike routes have been published to address recent road surface work. Course maps are available.
Race options and distances include:
- Sprint Triathlon - 500 yard swim, 12 mile bike, 3.1 mile run
- Sprint Aquabike - 500 yard swim, 12 mile bike
- Olympic Triathlon - .9 mile swim, 24.mile bike, 6.2 mile run
- Olympic Aquabike - .9 mile swim, 24.8 mile bike
- Half Triathlon - 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run
- Relay options for Sprint, Olympic, and Half distances
Registration includes a race shirt, swim cap, finisher medal, live results, awards, and a post-race party with music, food, and drinks. Packet pickup occurs the day before at the Lake Springfield Beach House (100 Long Bay Lane, Springfield, IL). Athletes must show photo ID and provide proof of USAT membership or purchase a one-day pass at pickup. Packets contain a wristband for transition access, a timing chip, bike and helmet stickers, and a run bib.
Time cutoffs apply for each distance; medical staff, a bike mechanic in transition, and a SAG vehicle will be available on course. There are no refunds or registration transfers for any reason. Spectator amenities include a kids sign-making table, yard games, music, and vendor booths. Lodging options are listed near Springfield and I-55.
