Event information

Lake Samish Runs is organized by the Greater Bellingham Running Club and takes place on Sunday, January 11, 2026. The event is chip timed by Pacific Multi Sports and is limited to 300 runners. Entry fees are $10 for GBRC members and $35 for non-members; day-of registration is available only if spots remain and carries an additional fee. Registration fees are non-refundable.

Distances and course

Both races are run on roads with very little elevation gain. The course layout is:

  • 6.5 mile - one loop around Lake Samish
  • 13.1 mile - two loops plus a 0.1 mile dog-leg at Nulle Rd to create a half marathon

Logistics and race rules

Parking is limited; participants use the Lake Samish Park and Ride or the Shell station at North Lake Samish where a Baker Bus shuttle transports runners to Lake Samish Lodge. Packet pickup, chip distribution, bib numbers, and apparel sales occur at the lodge on race day; there is no early packet pickup. Walkers are welcome but there is no early start for walkers and the course closes after three hours. Absolutely no dogs are allowed on the course. One ear bud is permitted; runners with baby joggers must start at the back and give wide berth when passing. Water and electrolyte beverage are provided on course, with post-race refreshments and awards in a warm, dry environment. Prizes and ribbons are awarded by overall, masters (40+), and age-group categories. A running shoe recycling program is available. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
