47th Annual Lake Samish Runs

The Lake Samish Runs consist of two separate distances held on the paved roads surrounding Lake Samish. Organized by the Greater Bellingham Running Club, the event provides a chip-timed experience with a gun start and chip finish. Both courses feature very little elevation gain, following a flat route choice for participants.

Available distances include:

  • 6.5 miles: A single loop around Lake Samish.
  • 13.1 miles: Two loops around the lake plus a short dog-leg on Nulle Road.

The event is capped at 300 participants. While walkers are welcome to participate, there is no early start time provided, and the course closes after three hours. Safety guidelines allow for the use of only one earbud to ensure runners can hear traffic and race information. Participants with baby joggers are required to start at the back of the pack. No dogs are permitted on either course.

The race utilizes an off-site parking system with a shuttle service. Participants park at the Lake Samish Park and Ride or near the Shell station at North Lake Samish, where a bus transfers them to the Lake Samish Lodge. Registration includes water and electrolyte beverages on the course, along with post-race refreshments and an awards ceremony inside the lodge. Awards are given to overall winners across various categories including men, women, non-binary, masters, and youth divisions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
