Event overview

The Lake Samish Runs is an annual road race held by the Greater Bellingham Running Club. The event offers two distances:

  • 13.1 miles (half marathon; two laps plus a 0.1 mile dog-leg at Nulle Rd.)
  • 6.5 miles (one lap around Lake Samish)

Both courses are run on roads with very little elevation gain. The event is chip timed, with gun start and chip finish, managed by Pacific Multi Sports. The field is capped at 300 runners. Walkers are welcome but the course closes after three hours; there is no early start for walkers. Absolutely no dogs are allowed on the course.

Logistics and services

Packet pickup (race chips, bib numbers, and apparel purchases) takes place at the Lake Samish Lodge on race day; there is no early packet pickup. Parking at Lake Samish Lodge is reserved for volunteers; participants are directed to park at the Lake Samish Park & Ride or near the Shell station at North Lake Samish (I-5 Exit 246). A shuttle service will transport participants between parking areas and the lodge. Water and an electrolyte beverage are provided on course, with post-race refreshments and awards in a warm, dry space. A running shoe recycling program will accept used shoes at the event.

Entry fees: GBRC members pay $10; non-members pay $35. Day-of registration, if available, adds $5. All registration fees are nonrefundable. Prize categories include overall, masters (40+), and kids, plus age-group ribbons.
