Event Overview

Lake Houston BridgeFest is a long-standing community event in Kingwood, Texas, that originated to celebrate the opening of the Lake Houston Parkway bridge. The event has supported the local area for 35 years and is organized through a partnership between the Lake Houston Family YMCA and the Rotary Club of the Lake Houston Area. Net proceeds from the event are used to support local community initiatives.

The event features two primary running and walking options:

  • BridgeFest 5K
  • BridgeFest 1-mile

Starting in 2026, both the 5K and the 1-mile distances are chip-timed. The courses are designed to be adaptive-friendly, allowing for both runners and walkers to participate. Participants in either distance receive a custom race bib, a finisher medal, and a BridgeFest race shirt.

Logistics and Participation

The event takes place at the Lake Houston Family YMCA. A family festival is held in conjunction with the races to provide entertainment for community members. Packet pickup is scheduled in the days leading up to the race at the YMCA location, as there is no packet pickup available on the day of the race itself.

Awards are presented for various categories in both distances. For the 5K, awards are given to the top male and female finishers in overall, masters (40+), and grand masters (60+) divisions, as well as the top three finishers in age groups ranging from 10 and under to 70 and over. The 1-mile race recognizes overall male and female winners and the top male and female finishers aged 10 and under. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
