Lakad for Rights

Lakad for Rights is a family-friendly 5K walk/run and community festival on September 5, 2026 at Columbia Park, 4503 N Lombard St., Portland, OR 97203. The event combines a community walk/run with a park festival featuring Filipino food, vendors, activities, and live performances.

"Lakad" means walk and "Karapatan" means rights in Tagalog/Filipino. The event aims to raise $50,000 to support several programs: relief and rehabilitation for Philippine communities affected by typhoons, volcanic eruptions, and other natural calamities through the Foundation for Philippine Progress; health programs run by the Filipino Bayanihan Center; and a new Migrant Worker’s Training Center in Portland, Oregon. These initiatives are described as addressing health, land, and community infrastructure needs.

Registration is tiered by date and includes a race shirt for early and regular registrants. Fees listed by the organizer are $40 for early bird registration (July 24–August 15) with a Lakad shirt, $50 for regular registration (August 16–September 1) with a Lakad shirt, and $50 for late registration (September 2–6) with shirt not guaranteed.

On event day there will be runner check-in, the 5K walk/run, and a post-race community festival with food, vendors, activities, and live performances in the park. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
