The Lace Up for the Library Presented by the Patti J. Nelson Foundation takes place on Sunday, June 7, 2026. Distances offered:

- 1 Mile
Registration opens February 21, 2026. Entry fees listed are $30 for the 5k and $20 for the 1 mile.
Course and awards
The 5k course runs through the rolling hills of Old Route 68, Needlepoint, and Dufford Roads. The 1 mile route is described as picturesque and suitable for participants of all ages. Parking, the start/finish area, and the post-race activities are held at 400 Old Route 68, Evans City, PA 16033.
Post-race activities include an award ceremony, raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle, lunch, and a community celebration. Prizes are offered for the top three male and top three female finishers and for the top three finishers in age groups. Top male and female finishers will have their names engraved on the Patti J. Nelson Foundation Trophy. Every participant has an opportunity to win a door prize.
Beneficiary
The event supports the Patti J. Nelson Foundation, which funds the Evans City Public Library. The library serves Callery, Evans City Borough, Forward Township, and nearby areas, and provides high-speed internet, story hours, community events, workshops, and a place to gather. Governmental agencies cover about half of the library’s operating costs; the foundation and fundraising help keep the library open year-round.
