The 5K follows a course through the rolling hills of Old Route 68, Needlepoint Road, and Dufford Road. The 1 mile route is described as picturesque and is intended for participants of all ages. The post-race celebration includes an award ceremony, raffle baskets, a 50/50 drawing, lunch, and a community celebration.
Awards and recognitions include an engraved Patti J. Nelson Foundation Trophy for the top male and female finishers, prizes for the top three male and female finishers, and prizes for the top three finishers in each age group. Every participant has an opportunity to win a door prize.
The Patti J. Nelson Foundation honors the life and legacy of Patti Nelson by supporting the Evans City Public Library. The library provides services such as reliable high-speed internet, story hours, community events, workshops, and a gathering place. Governmental agencies cover only part of the operating costs, and the foundation, together with donations and fundraising events, helps the library remain open year-round.
