Elk Valley Ultra
Elk Valley Ultra is a trail event in Fernie, BC organised by Stag Leap Running Co. The main race is a high vertical 50 km mountain trail with about 2,700 m of ascent. An optional companion race, the Headwall Hustle, is a 15 km route with about 840 m of ascent at Fernie Alpine Resort; a combo entry permits racing both events on the race weekend.
The 50 km course is described in three legs that use established local routes: Leg 1 climbs Mt. Fernie then follows Rocky Road to Island Lake Lodge and the Old Growth Forest; Leg 2 follows the old Rail Trail up Gorby and through Provincial Park trails; Leg 3 includes a climb across the front of Mt. Fernie and a steep descent to the finish. Course routing is subject to change based on land use permissions.
