Labor Day Burke Lake 5k & 10k
This event offers two measured distances on a combination paved road and trail course at Burke Lake Park. The trail section is fairly well maintained and has some roots; the first and last half mile of both distances are on paved roads. Walkers are welcome.
Participants receive a finisher's medal, a technical (DriFit) event shirt, and the event is chip timed. T-shirts are guaranteed for runners registered before August 26; additional shirts may be available afterward on a first-come first-served basis. Race-day registration and packet pickup are available at the venue; runners are advised to arrive about one hour before their event to check in.
Water stations are placed along each course: two stations on the 5k and three on the 10k, with Gatorade available at some stations. Restrooms are located near the ice cream parlor. Live results and runner tracking are provided during and after the event.
The event benefits the Lilly and Blair Foundation, which funds research for children with de novo spastic paraplegia. A virtual race option is available for those who cannot attend in person. Awards are given to the top three men and women overall and to top finishers in standard age categories; overall top three finishers are not eligible for age-group awards.
