La Plata Run Thru the Jungle (34th annual)
The event takes place on September 5, 2026 in downtown La Plata, Missouri as part of the Soybean Festival in the city park. The program includes a chip timed 5K run, a 1.2 mile walk, and a Tot Trot held on the west side of the city park.

The 5K course uses about 1.2 miles of relatively flat city streets and about 1.9 miles on the local golf course. The golf course portion includes rolling hills, bridges, and wooded areas. The course will be marked with flags and a single chalk line. Water stations and volunteers are available along the run and walk routes.
Packet pickup is held under the La Plata State Bank awning at 139 S Gex Street. Prizes and awards include a $125 gift card to Hibbett Sports for the top male and female 5K runners and medals for top male and female finishers in each age group. Tot Trot participants enter at no charge. Registered participants receive a race t shirt, and the event features a live band, refreshments after the race, and door prize drawings.
Results are announced immediately following the Tot Trot. In case of unsafe weather, participants will not receive a refund but will still receive their race t shirt and remain eligible for door prizes. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
