Uncle Sam 5K Run and 1.2 Mile Walk/Run
The FLATS Uncle Sam event is scheduled for July 4, 2026 in Kirksville, Missouri. The start and finish are at Dukum Inn, 111 S Elson St, Kirksville.
Distances include:
- 5K (3.1 miles)
- 1.2 mile walk or run
The course follows local streets and is described as mostly flat with a few gentle hills. Both distances begin together and use the same start and finish area at Dukum Inn.
Registration opens May 8 and closes July 2. An early registration fee of $20 is listed and a higher late registration fee may apply. Packet pickup is available the day before at ATSU’s Thompson Campus Center or on race day at Dukum Inn.
All participants receive a commemorative T-shirt, post-race refreshments, and are eligible for door prize drawings. Awards include plaques for the fastest male and female finishers in the 5K and a plaque for the top finisher in the 1.2 mile event. Age group medals are awarded to the top three in each division: 19 and under, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 plus.
The event proceeds rain or shine; in severe weather organizers may delay the start or modify the course. The race is part of Kirksville’s Red, White, and Blue Festival and supports the Forest Lake Area Trail System. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
