About the race
The La Llorona "Ditch Witch" Run is a community running event in Albuquerque, New Mexico, held on October 11, 2026 at Sagebrush Community Church and nearby Bosque trails. The event offers multiple distances and an evening Twilight 5K that takes place on the Bosque as daylight fades; the Twilight 5K is described as running on trails where La Llorona folklore is part of the event theme.

Courses run largely on ditch banks and Bosque trails, are well marked, and have volunteers and aid stations. The 10K and 5K events use professional timing with disposable bib tags and require participants to wear the bib with the timing chip visible and unaltered; bibs are non-transferable. Finishers receive an event t-shirt and a finisher medal, and the event provides refreshments at the finish along with a well-stocked finish table and water or Powerade stations on course. Overall and age-group awards are given for the 10K and 5K based on gun time.
Medical staff and radio communications personnel will be on course and at aid stations. The event policy prohibits dogs and the use of most wheeled devices by participants on the course.
