La Jornada de Las Quebradas
La Jornada de Las Quebradas is a 53K trail race near Socorro, New Mexico, scheduled for February 13, 2027. The event is organized by the Socorro Trail Running Series and takes place along the Quebradas Backcountry Scenic Highway area.
The race is presented with a minimalist approach: course markings and aid stations are adequate but limited. A portion of event profits will be donated to maintenance of local trails and to the Socorro High School cross country team. The registration fee is $95; the fee includes a meal from the local food truck Cubish, event photos, and an event shirt. First place in each category receives a $50 REI gift card and a customized trophy.
The start is located at a small pullout off the Quebradas backcountry byway. The access road is described as well maintained and drivable in most sedans, though some washboard sections exist. The pullout should accommodate most vehicles, with additional pullouts within about 0.5 miles if needed. Organizers note a carpool meeting location at Escondida bridge park, which has parking; from there participants drive a short distance to the byway and then on a dirt road to the start.
