La French Run Overview
La French Run is organized by the Alliance Française of Calgary and will hold its 5th edition on Sunday, September 20, 2026 at Stanley Park in SW Calgary. The 2025 edition gathered 270 runners and 25 volunteers.
Race options include:
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 1 km for children
The 5 km can be run or walked. The 10 km is a run. The 5 km and 10 km races are open to adults and teenagers aged 12 and above. A special fun run is offered for children aged 4 to 10; parents may run alongside their children at no additional cost. Runners are not allowed to run with a stroller or a dog.
After the race, participants have a tasting of French pastries. Everyone receives a croissant, a French style striped shirt and a gold medal. There is also a surprise drawing with various prizes.
Prize structure (selected facts): total prize pools listed as $2050 for the 10 km and $2000 for the 5 km. Top three men and women in each distance receive gift awards: for the 10 km first place $500, second $300, third $225; for the 5 km first place $475, second $300, third $225. The 1 km kids prize package includes pastries, ice cream, a hat, stickers, a gold medal and a magic pen.
Admission fees vary. Organizers seek about 30 volunteers and offer a group discount for teams of 10 people or more. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
