Kukini Keaahala 5K

The inaugural Kukini Keaahala 5K is a community running event held on the grounds of Windward Community College in Kaneohe, Hawaii. This event is sponsored by Hui Mākua o Pūʻōhala and Ke Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Pūʻōhala to support student wellness and healthy lifestyles for both Kaiapuni and English program students. The location serves as a part-time campus for local high school students and provides the setting for this multi-generational race.

Participants can register for a 5K distance, which is divided into several age-based categories:

  • Kūpuna (Seniors aged 55 and older)
  • Mākua (Adults aged 19-35 and 36-54)
  • Haumāna Kiʻekiʻe (High School students)
  • Haumāna Waena (Middle School students)
  • Haumāna Haʻahaʻa (Elementary School students)

The event accommodates various participation styles as walkers and strollers are permitted. For those using strollers, only the person pushing the stroller is required to register. Parents are also permitted to escort registered children without a separate registration.

Awards recognize the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age division. Following the completion of the race, participants are provided with refreshments for recovery. Commemorative event shirts are available for purchase during the registration process. Race packets can be collected on the Thursday prior to the event at Ke Kula Kaiapuni ʻo Pūʻōhala or at the college campus on race morning. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
