Event overview
The New Year’s Resolution Run is a trail running event organised by Wamboin Trail Runners. It is based at Wamboin Community Hall, 112 Bingley Way, Wamboin, NSW. The event is scheduled for the third Sunday in January. There are two race options:
- 21.1 km half marathon
- 12 km trail run
Both distances have a cut off time of 4.5 hours. The half marathon includes about 680 metres of elevation gain and features an ascent of Mt Amungula. The 12 km route includes more than 320 metres of climb and contains 8 km of continuous single track in native forest.
Course and race information
Both races start and finish at Wamboin Community Hall. Runners follow an out-and-back on Bingley Way for 1.3 km on sealed bitumen before entering Kowen Forest. The half marathon is mostly dirt forestry trails with three single track sections totalling 2.5 km. The 12 km course is largely single track through native forest.
All participants must carry mandatory safety gear and will undergo a gear check before collecting their race number. Required items include a water container, a mobile phone with the race director’s number saved, and a snake compression bandage. Entries for the 2026 event will open towards the end of 2025.
