Kona Kids 5k
The Kona Kids 5k is a fundraising running event held at Liberty Park in Powell, Ohio. The race serves as a benefit for Kona Kids, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting children on the Big Island of Hawaii. Participants can choose between two participation formats:
- In-Person 5k
- Virtual 5k
The event focuses on supporting educational and nutritional needs. All proceeds from the race are donated to the organization to fund the purchase of school supplies and meals for children. This specific edition of the event is dedicated to the memory of John W. McCoy. Consequently, the funds raised will be directed toward the McCoy College Scholarship to assist students with their higher education goals.
The in-person race takes place along a 5 km route starting within the park grounds at 2845 Home Road. For those unable to attend the physical location, the virtual option allows participants to complete the 5 km distance independently. Registration for both formats opens in June and remains available until the day of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
