Kokoda Challenge - Gold Coast
The Kokoda Challenge on the Gold Coast is a team endurance event held in the Gold Coast Hinterland on 18 and 19 July 2026. Teams of two to five participants complete one of three marked courses while raising funds for the Kokoda Youth Foundation.
Distances offered
- 30 km: 12 hours to complete, min age 10, 3 checkpoints, no support crew
- 48 km: 20 hours to complete, min age 13, 7 checkpoints, 1 support crew checkpoint
- 96 km: 39 hours to complete, min age 15, 13 checkpoints, 4 support crew checkpoints
The courses pass through rugged hinterland terrain and include steep climbs, dense forest trails and creek crossings, with cumulative elevation gain reported above 4,000 metres on the full route. The event emphasises teamwork and requires participants to travel as a team rather than as individuals.
Registration fees and minimum fundraising targets vary by distance and team composition. Each team must meet a fundraising minimum before event day to support the Kokoda Youth Foundation’s programs for young Australians. The finish precinct is at Nerang Velodrome where finishers receive commemorative dog tags and there will be event vendors and music. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
