Kokoda Challenge - Gold Coast (18 to 19 July 2026)

The Kokoda Challenge - Gold Coast is a team endurance event held in the Gold Coast Hinterland with start locations that include Mudgeeraba. Teams choose from the following distances:

  • 30 km
  • 48 km
  • 96 km

Teams register and compete together; solo entries are not permitted. The event requires each team to meet a minimum fundraising target before the event to support the Kokoda Youth Foundation. The challenge links its route and values to the 1942 Kokoda Campaign and raises funds for youth programs that have supported over 1,300 teens since 2004.

Course terrain includes steep climbs, descents, dense forest trails, creek crossings and significant elevation gain, including named mountain sections and long night sections on some courses. Specific age and checkpoint rules vary by distance: the 30 km event has a minimum age of 10, three checkpoints and no support crew; the 48 km event has a minimum age of 13, seven checkpoints and one support crew checkpoint; the 96 km event has a minimum age of 15, thirteen checkpoints and four support crew checkpoints.

The finish area for all distances is Little Clagiraba Reserve, where finishers receive a dog tag and there are vendors and music. Course maps and detailed support crew information are provided closer to the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
