Event Overview

The Kokanee Trail Runs is a trail running event in South Lake Tahoe, California. The 35th edition takes place on October 4, 2026. It features several race distances on trails near Fallen Leaf Lake, with courses offering views of Lake Tahoe.

Distances

The event offers four distances:

  • Half Marathon (12.63 miles)
  • 10K (6.54 miles)
  • 5K (3.4 miles)
  • Tadpole Trot (a non-competitive half-mile for children 12 and under)

Course Details

The courses have varied elevation gain. The Half Marathon course travels over Tahoe Mountain. All registered runners receive a finisher's award, and top runners in each gender/age division receive prizes. The event is sanctioned by the Road Runners Club of America (RRCA).

On-Course Support

Aid stations on the courses provide water, Tailwind drink, and snacks. The event encourages participants to use reusable cups to limit waste.

Beneficiary

Proceeds from the event support the Nevada Humane Society and the Boys & Girls Club of Lake Tahoe.

Participant Information

Packet pickup is available the day before the race at Camp Richardson Resort's Oktoberfest and on race morning at the start/finish area. An event shirt made from recycled materials is provided, but availability is not guaranteed for registrations after August 16.
